The IHEC announced on 8 June that the Electoral Judicial Panel (EJP) formed by the Supreme Judicial Council is concerned to investigate on the appeals filed on the results of the Elections of the Iraqi Council of Representatives. The EJP has the right to issue decisions on these appeals exclusively.
The Board of Commissioners Member and the spokesperson of the IHEC, Mr. Safa al Moussawi said that the EJP is concerned to investigate on the appeals and make decisions in accordance with the scheduled. The EJP has investigated on those appeals for ten days starting from the date of arrival of appeals after consulting the Board of Commissioners (BoC) about them.
He stressed that the calculated period for appeals is not necessarily be from the date of the announcement of the results for ten days. The period starts from the date of the arrival of the appeals to the EJP.
The IHEC declared that the political entities and candidates submitted around 893 appeals on the results of the elections of the Iraqi Council of Representatives of 2014.
